Trust-Emun was featured at The Holy Land – In Search For Peace Photo Exhibition, which showcased the photography of Claudia Henzler. The exhibition was at the Austrian Hospice in Jerusalem.
How is peace possible? This underlying question inspires the visitor of Claudia Henzlers exhibition to think deeper and search for ways to enhance true communication. Deeper understanding and to a growing appreciation for each other are promoted, no matter what religious, social or cultural background we come from.
The exhibition showed 40 photographs that were taken by the photographer during various trips to the Holy Land between 2005-2009.
Where as the media mainly covers conflicts, Claudias focus is set on “searching peace”. Photos with little text-meditations invited the viewer to absorb the atmosphere, the photos transmit.
“Peace begins with a smile” is one of the quotes adjacent to the photo which shows a Muslim and two Jewish men and in their midst a little laughing baby, that connects them through its contagious smile. Other photos show peacemakers, religous leaders and people of different faiths as well as panoramas and details of life in the Holy Land. The photos that emphasize the topic of “searching peace”, show aspects of hope, but also doubt, trouble, pain and joy, as they are all part of life on the way towards peace.
Claudia Henzler believes that peace begins with little actions. She sees her art as a tool to bring people of various backgrounds together. She says it is “a contribution to promote peace through dialogue and thus to help deepen mutual understanding.”
Just recently she got nominated with her photos (Haiti – after the earthquake) for the award “St. Leopolds Award 2010 for Peace” which honors special humanitarian engagement through art (by Stift Klosterneuburg, Austria).
Claudia Henzler comes from Germany, lives in Vienna and works on an international level. Her company HENZLERWORKS photos with a message was founded in 2003. Especially known through her various travelling photo exhibitions, within the last years her job assignments take her around the world as a photo journalist, event photographer, photo exhibitor and speaker.
